INGREDIENTS
- 500g of your preferred minced meat
- Half an onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of crushed ginger and garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon of chili flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried mixed herbs
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 teaspoons of chili powder
- 1 teaspoon of steak and chops spice
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon of thyme
- 1 bottle (340ml) of crushed tomato with basil
METHOD
- In a pan, sauté onions, garlic, and crushed ginger and garlic in olive oil until the onions become slightly translucent.
- Add crushed chili flakes, dried herbs, and bay leaves to the pan. Mix well and cook for 3-5 minutes over medium heat. Cover the pan with a lid to expedite the process.
- Incorporate the washed minced meat into the onion mixture, breaking it up and ensuring it blends well.
- Season the minced meat with steak and chops spice, black pepper, chili powder, thyme, and salt. Allow it to cook covered for approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Here’s the secret: Pour in a bottle of crushed tomatoes with basil into the meat mixture. This adds a significant depth of flavor to your sauce. Don’t discard the leftover sauce in the bottle; instead, add a little water to it and pour it into the meat mixture.
- Let the meat sauce simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, and you’re ready to start layering your lasagna. 👌🏽
