Pepper Steak Pie Filling

This recipe yields enough delicious filling for either a dozen mini pies or one hearty big pie. Feel free to adjust the quantities to suit your needs.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350g of Tender Steak (choose your favourite cut)
  • 1/2 of a Fresh Onion
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 1 Teaspoon of Garlic
  • 1 Teaspoon of Mixed Herbs
  • 1 Teaspoon of Steak & Chops Seasoning
  • 1 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Teaspoons of Gravy Powder
  • 150 ml of Water
  • A handful of Fresh Parsley

METHOD

  1. Start by cutting your tender steak into bite-sized pieces. Remember, the better the cut, the tastier your filling.
  2. Chop up the onion and green chilli finely. They’ll bring some lovely texture and flavour to your filling.
  3. Heat up a pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of oil, and when it’s sizzling, toss in your steak pieces. Cook until they’re beautifully browned and set them aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté your chopped onion, green chilli, and garlic until they turn soft and fragrant.
  5. Sprinkle in your mixed herbs, steak & chops seasoning, zesty black pepper, and just the right amount of salt. Let those flavours mingle for a minute or two.
  6. Now, it’s time to add the Worcestershire sauce, giving your filling that rich, savoury depth.
  7. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the gravy powder and water until it forms a smooth paste. Pour this into the pan, stirring constantly until your filling thickens up nicely.
  8. Reintroduce the seared steak to the mix. Let everything simmer together for a few minutes to ensure all those flavours blend harmoniously.
  9. Finish with a generous handful of fresh parsley for a burst of colour and flavour.
  10. Allow your Pepper Steak Pie Filling to cool slightly before using it to fill your mini pies or your big, comforting pie
