My mother in law makes a really simple paneer dish with a creamy tomato gravy. It is beyond simple to make and Its so tasty.
For Paneer:
- 500g paneer
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp jeera seeds (cumin seeds)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp Kashmiri masala
- 1/4 tsp dhania jeera powder (coriander-cumin powder)
For Gravy:
- 1 1/2 diced onions
- 4 roughly chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp jeera seeds (cumin seeds)
- 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
- 2 tsp ginger & garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp dhania jeera powder (coriander-cumin powder)
- 2 1/2 tbsp Kashmiri powder
- 2 green chillies
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
- 100 ml fresh cream
- Coriander for garnish
- Salt to taste
Method:
- In a heated pan, add mustard seeds, jeera seeds, turmeric, Kashmiri powder, and dhania jeera powder. Let them release their flavours for a bit.
- Add the paneer pieces and coat them with the spices. Set them aside.
- In the same pan, sauté diced onions along with the whole spices. Add ginger and garlic paste and ground spices. Continue to sauté.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and some salt. Cook for about 15 minutes until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
- Top the cooked mixture with curry leaves and coriander, then blend it into a smooth gravy.
- Cook the gravy for a couple more minutes and then add in the paneer.
- Drizzle fresh cream over the dish and garnish with coriander.
Serve this delicious Paneer in Creamy Tomato Sauce with fresh roti and enjoy!
