If you’re a bread lover, get ready to indulge in the delectable flavors of this Focaccia recipe. It’s incredibly simple to make, especially for those who haven’t ventured into bread-making before. You can keep it classic with rosemary and garlic or unleash your creativity by adding your favorite veggies as toppings.
INGREDIENTS
DOUGH:
- 10g Yeast
- 500g Flour + additional for kneading
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar/Honey
- 1 Teaspoon Salt
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil + 5 Tablespoons for covering
- 375-400 ml Warm Water
TOPPINGS: Choose your favourites! I used sliced red onions, dried herbs, garlic, olives, rosemary, and cherry tomatoes.
METHOD
- Mix water, yeast, salt, sugar, and honey together.
- Add the flour and combine thoroughly.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes on a floured surface.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Stretch the dough for 5 minutes and let it rest again.
- Repeat the previous step after another 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough into a ball, coat it with 5 tablespoons of olive oil, and store it in the fridge, covered with cling film.
- The next day, transfer the dough to a flat baking tray and press your fingers into it, creating dimples all over the surface (a truly therapeutic experience).
- Allow the dough to rest for another 30 minutes.
- Add your desired toppings and season with salt.
- Bake for approximately 30 minutes at 190°C or until golden brown.
TIPS: Using a flat oven tray will yield better results.
