METHOD
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is active.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead the Dough:
- Mix the ingredients with a spoon until a sticky dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You may need to add a bit more flour if the dough is too sticky.
- Let the Dough Rise:
- Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
- Allow the dough to rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Roll and Shape:
- After the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles.
- Roll into your desired shape and flatten it with your hands.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a thin circle or oval.
- Sprinkle the chopped fresh rosemary over the dough.
- Drizzle olive oil over each flatbread, sprinkle with a pinch of salt.
- Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 185 degrees Celsius (365 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Bake the flatbread in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until it becomes golden brown and crispy.
- Customize Your Toppings:
- Once the flatbread is baked, let it cool slightly.
- Spread the caramelized onion and balsamic dip.
- Add sautéed veggies (mushrooms, patty pans, onions), pepperdews, Add cubed Feta cheese, and fresh rocket leaves.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze and sprinkle red chili flakes for a touch of heat (optional).
