INGREDIENTS
- 250g margarine or butter
- 3 cups fruit cake mix
- 1 can condensed milk
- 1 can boiling water
- 2 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- Nuts of your choice for decorating
METHOD
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).
- In a heated pan, add the margarine or butter and allow it to melt and come to a boil.
- Stir in the fruit cake mix and let it soften for a few minutes.
- Add the condensed milk to the mixture and fill the empty can with boiling water, being careful not to touch the hot can.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously.
- Allow the mixture to cool down completely.
- Gradually add the cake flour, baking powder, and bicarbonate of soda to the cooled mixture.
- Gently mix the ingredients until well combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Prepare your baking pan by greasing and lining it with parchment paper.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Decorate the cake with your choice of nuts, such as sliced almonds.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the cake turns golden brown.
- To check if the cake is cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely before serving.
